South Mesa trailhead in Boulder

South Mesa Trailhead is the most popular location for senior and other portrait shoots as it is the most diverse and has beautiful areas and light. It includes a bridge, fence, mountain backdrop, open fields, big rocks, a river, and much more. Any season is beautiful at South Mesa Trailhead. If your senior/portrait shoot is at South Mesa, you will not have to book a second location, as it has it all with the best light. South Mesa Trailpark is the most popular location and my favorite.

How to get there:

1.7 miles west of Highway 93 on Eldorado Springs Drive (Highway 170). (about half an hour from Broomfield)

If you have booked this location with me, please meet me at the entrance of the park in front of the little parking lot. You will need $5 cash to park your car here. I will be waiting in front with my camera and purple wagon. I'll bring a wagon to help carry all your clothes changes and other belongings.

For Deluxe sessions you can combine locations if you wish. South Mesa is diverse enough to not have to choose a second location though. There are no limitations on clothes changes. I will bring a pop up changing tent for your convenience.

See below how to get there and some sample pictures of the area.

Note: Currently, South Mesa has closed off the river for all people, so we cannot take any pictures in the river here. Eldorado Canyon State park is only 1 mile away, so we can head over there at the end of your shoot to take some water pictures. However, Eldorado Canyon State Park now requires we make reservations, so please let me know in time so I can try to arrange that.
